The design on the coin's obverse side was taken from the "Walking Liberty" design by Adolph A. Weinman which originally had been used on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar coin of the United States from 1916 to 1947. As this beautiful design had been a public favourite and, indeed, one of the most popular designs of any United States coinage of modern times, silver or otherwise. The design was revived for the Silver Eagle decades later. The obverse is inscribed with the year of minting or issuance, the word LIBERTY, and the phrase "IN GOD WE TRUST".

The new reverse design was introduced in 2021, and it's featured for the third consecutive time with the 2023 release. It displays a left-profile relief imponent bald eagle mid-flight holding an oak branch in its talons.

ABOUT THE AMERICAN SILVER EAGLE SERIES

American Silver Eagle coins are the official silver bullion coin of the United States. The United States Mint first released it on November 24, 1986. It is struck only in the one-troy ounce size which has a nominal face value of one dollar and is guaranteed to contain one troy ounce of 999 pure silver. Its content, weight, and purity are certified by the United States Mint. In addition to the bullion version, the United States Mint has produced a proof version and an uncirculated version for coin collectors. The Silver Eagle has been produced at three mints: the Philadelphia Mint, the San Francisco Mint, and the West Point Mint, although the latter produces the most significant amount of coin.

          ABOUT THE UNITED STATES MINT

Established in 1792 as the first national mint in the United States, the United States Mint is a bureau of the Department of the Treasury responsible for official legal tender coinage production. The United States Mint has a mission to serve Americans as the sole manufacturer and distributor of circulating currency coins and other official American coinage. The U.S. mint also produces commemorative coins for collectors, silver and gold bullion coins for investors (such as the popular Eagle and Buffalo series), as well as Congressional Medals.
